We encourage exhibitors to follow the 4-H motto “Learn to do by Doing”
OBJECTIVES OF THE JUNIOR FAIR
1. To supplement and encourage junior activities as organized in the area served by the fair.
2. To improve the educational value of the fair.
3. To encourage rural youth to become future exhibitors.
4. To stimulate the interest of a greater number of people in the fair.
5. To display the learned activities in 4-H throughout the last current year
GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. Participation is open to persons from Stormont and surrounding counties who are members of an
organized Stormont 4-H Club from September 1st of the previous year to August 31st of the current year.
2. Exhibitor must be current Stormont 4-H members and have a valid 4-H I.D. number.
a. (J) Junior 9-14 years
b. (S) Senior 15-21 years
c. (C) Cloverbuds 6-8 years
3. Contact SAS Secretary for 4-H exhibitor number. Fill in entry form which is available on the SAS website.
The completed form is handed to the 4-H department. Each article must have an entry tag attached to it.
Indicate J, S, or C on the form/tag for applicable classes. Tags will be available at the Junior Fair Hall on
Thursday evening preceding the fair or contact SAS Secretary.
4. No entry fee is charged.
5. All entries must have been prepared by the exhibitor since the previous Stormont County Fair.
6. Entries must be in place from 7:00 – 9:00pm Thursday evening preceding the fair and will remain until
4:00pm Monday of fair weekend. Late entries will not be judged.
7. All exhibits placed in the Exhibit Hall are there at the owner’s risk.
8. Plastic bags will be available for the hay and grain classes in the Exhibit Hall.
9. All posters and exhibits must have exhibitor’s name, age (as of January 1st of current year), club, and
county printed on the back.
10. The Canadian 4-H emblem (green and white in colour) is to be located somewhere on the front of posters
and exhibits.
EDUCATIONAL DISPLAYS/CLUB DISPLAYS (SECTION A)
1. This section is open to all organized Stormont 4-H
2. Table space will be 1.3m high / 1m wide / .6m deep (4’/3’/2’).
3. Exhibits must have suitable title and include club name)
4. Exhibits shown from previous fairs are not eligible.
5. Exhibits will be judged using the following criteria for a total of 100 points –
a. General Appearance and neatness – 30 points
b. Power to attract and hold attention – 20 points
c. Workmanship – 20 points
d. Conveys message – 30 points
6. At least (3) clubs must enter before prize money is awarded.
7. Prize Money –
a. 1st Place – $20.00
b. 2nd Place – $15.00
c. 3rd Place – $10.00
YOUTH LEADER DISPLAYS
Will follow same criteria as above.
Will also have the same prize money as above.
INDIVIDUAL CLASSES (SECTION B)
1. One entry per member
2. Prize Money –
a. 1st Place – $8.00
b. 2nd Place – $7.00
c. 3rd Place – $6.00
d. 4th Place – $5.00
e. 5th Place – $4.00
POSTERS – OPEN TO SECTION A OR B
Not larger than 1 (22×28”) bristol board unless otherwise specified.
1. Collection of (10) crop seeds or (10) crop weeds – labelled and identified. Or enter a booklet (1) seed and
(1) crop collection
2. Poster relating to specific 4-H project completed in previous or current year
3. A “me” page. Collection of photos/pictures and (1) 8.5/11” page typed with information about yourself
4. A collection of 8-10 photos of your club in action. Must be mounted and labelled
PHOTOGRAPHY – OPEN TO SECTION A OR B
(3) 4X6” mounted together on cardstock or bristol board

FRUITS AND VEGETABLES – OPEN TO SECTION A OR B
7. Decorated vegetable or fruit
8. Collection of garden vegetables displayed in a decorative container or basket – Must have (4) different
kinds and no more than (9) vegetables in total
FLOWERS (REAL) – OPEN TO SECTION A OR B
9. An arrangement of fresh flowers displayed in a vase
10. An arrangement of fresh flowers with a 4-H theme
BAKING – OPEN TO SECTION A OR B
Items must be displayed on a white paper or styrofoam plate covered with plastic.
11. A Disney fudge or candy
12. (3) Decorated sugar cookies
13. (3) Buns. Made from scratch with yeast
CRAFTS – OPEN TO SECTION A OR B
14. A 4-H project book related to a current year’s project. Please note the standard project book size is a 1”
binder or duotang. You may enter (1) binder or duotang only per project
15. One page of scrapbooking
16. Any wood working item. Must not be from a kit
17. Any item – something new from something old. Recycling at its best
18. Any craft item
19. Any item of “stitchery” (knitting, crochet, quilting, cross-stich, etc.)
20. An article of sewing
21. Any item of quilting
22. A collection of 4-5 pages of scrapbooking
23. A knitted accessory (hat, scarf, etc.)
24. Any barn quilt. Not to exceed 24×24”. Please state name of quilt pattern on entry tag
25. Artistic display. Mounted on no larger than 15×15” plywood with no thicker than 1.5” raised border. You
may use seeds, grains, and field crop materials. Materials are used do not have to be produced by the
member but must be grown in Ontario
26. Stall card for your 4-H project
MISCELLANEOUS
27. Corn Silage 5kg (10lbs), from the previous year.
28. Haylage 5kg (10lbs), from the current year
29. Corn 5kg (10lbs), from previous year. Next year, Soybean 5kg (10lbs) – From the previous year.
30. Grain Corn (10) ears, from the current year.
31. Baled Hay (1) flake, 1st cut from the current year.
32. Baled Hay (1) flake, 2nd cut from current year.
33. (1) Sheaf of field corn (6 stalks), from current year.
CLOVERBUDS

Option B – Poster related to your favourite meeting. *Only (B) entries can go on to Regionals.

1. All Stormont 4-H Clubs and Stormont -Glengarry Junior Farmers are eligible to participate in the parade on
Saturday of the fair weekend.
2. No live animals on floats.
3. Entries are judged based on –
a. Conveying Theme
b. Originality
c. Construction
d. Overall appearance
4. Entrants must register with parade chairperson prior to 12:00pm on parade day. Please assemble at East
Parking Lot for judging at Noon.
4-H ACHIEVEMENT
Sheep, Beef and Dairy Club Members must complete appropriate 4-H entry form and submit via AssistExpo
Dairy Achievement Day – Sunday August 31st – 10:00am
Beef Achievement Day – Sunday August 31st – 10:30am
Sheep Achievement Day – Monday September 1st – 9:00 – 10:30am
