Open Hereford, Simmental, Angus, and Other Breed/Crossbreed Beef Shows

Monday September 1st, 1:00pm – Cattle Ring

GENERAL RULES

1.Proof of Liability Insurance must accompany each entry form for the animals being shown
2. Entries close two weeks prior to the show date of the current year. Late entries will be accepted until 11:00am the day of the show. Entry information will be done on AssistExpo. (See green button above)
3. Each breed must have at least (3) exhibitors per breed. If these qualifications are not met, only half of the prize money will be awarded.
4. All prize money will be paid in cash after the show.
5. Entry Fee will be 20% + HST of winnings, and an $8.00 membership fee (if not already paid)
6. Cattle must not be removed before 4:00pm and until all shows are complete the day of the show.
7. Each cattle exhibitor to receive one pass for 1-4, 5-8, and 9-10 animals upon receipt of entry form. (2) tie stalls will be supplied for prep/storage if available. (1) animal, (1) tie ring. Maintain 4’ walkway. No excess hay/straw beyond your prep/storage area. No feed/straw provided

 

SPECIAL NOTES

1. Breeds will be alternated in the beef ring(s)
2. All purebred registered animals, whether owned by one person or by more than one person are considered the be the production of the farm or breeding unit.
3. Each breeding unit is allowed a maximum of 10 exhibits excluding the “Breeders Herd” and “Get-Of-Sire” classes. Al exhibits must be owned by and registered in the name of the exhibitor.
4. All animals being shown in single classes must be registered, except “Other Breed/Crossbreed” at the time of the entries closing. All animals have intact and undamaged CFIA approved tag.
5.“Breeders Herd” and “Get-Of-Sire” animals and papers will be checked before entering the ring.
6. The Canadian Hereford and the Ontario Hereford Associations have banned aerosols. This will also apply to the Simmental, Angus, and Other Breed/Crossbreed shows.
7. If you arrive the day of the show without preregistering, your name/commodity will not be in the catalogue.

 

CLASSES

1. MALE – Calf born on or after January 1st, 2025 (Minimum of (3) months of age on show day
2. MALE – Yearling born in 2024
3. MALE – 2-year-old born in 2023
4. FEMALE – Calf born on or after January 1st, 2025 (Minimum (3) months of age on day of show)
5. FEMALE – Heifer Junior born March 1st, 2024 – December 31st, 2024 (Junior)
6. FEMALE – Heifer Senior born January 1st, 2024, to February 28th, 2024 (Senior)
7. FEMALE – Born January 1st, 2023, to December 31st, 2023, with her own 2025, Natural purebred registered calf at foot
8. FEMALE Born prior to January 1st, 2023, with her own 2025 natural purebred registered calf at foot. Calf can only be shown with mother and in Class 8 & 9
9. BREEDERS HERD – Group of (4) animals bred by the exhibitor, both sexes represented. Must be exhibited in previous classes. At least (1) animal must be owned by the exhibitor. Limited to one exhibit per exhibitor
10. GET-OF-SIRE – 3 animals from the same sire, both sexes represented. At least (1) owned by the exhibitor. Limited to (1) exhibit per exhibitor. Will need papers for this class.

September 1st – Immediately prior to Beef Show
$10.00/participant & ribbons
Open to all children aged 8 and under as of January 1, 2025

 

RULES

1.No Entry Fee
2.Participants may use 4-H Heifers or calves from home
3.All non-4-H calves must follow open show cattle rules
4.An adult may accompany the child in the ring
5.Calf must have NLID (RFID) tag
