RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. No entry fee for 16 years and under
2. All entries must be made by the exhibitor (child) exhibiting (showing) the item.
3. All entries must be in place in the Exhibit Hall Friday of fair weekend between 8:30 – 11:30am.
4. All entries must be picked up on Monday at 4:00pm
5. All entries must be –
• Tagged with entry tags
• Entered using AssistExpo until August 30 at 5:00pm or on an entry form which is to be brought
completed to the Fair Office after placing exhibits in the Exhibit Hall
6. You may only enter (1) item in each class for your age group.
7. You may compete with an age group above yours, but you may not compete against a younger group. Age
as of first day of the fair.
8. Any exhibitor found cheating will not receive any prizes or prize money.
9. All exhibits must be new work.
10. You may get your entry tags from the website in advance.
11. If you win a special or prize money, you may pick it up at the Fair Office on Sunday or Monday of the fair.
*Parents are urged to allow the children to do the work and preparation of exhibits without assistance. Please
encourage them in every way but remember that every bit of work you do for them helps defeat the object of the
School Fair. Please observe all rules and regulations.

CRAFTS
1. Flower Printing – create a picture using flowers dipped in paint and “stamped” on the paper
2. Handprint Art – make a picture using handprints done with paint (smaller details can be drawn on, if you
choose)
3. A Coloured Picture – from a colouring book. Mount on constructions paper or card stock – any size.
BAKING
4. Decorate a Rice Krispie Square – any size or shape. Use Edible Decorations

CRAFTS
5. Create a terrarium out of a mason jar with a lid. Can use any materials inside – Sand, moss, rocks, smalls
toys, etc.
6. Create an Animal or Bug out of popsicle sticks. Can be decorated any way you choose
7. Draw and Colour a Picture of your Family. Mount on construction paper or cardstock – any size.
8. Create an Egg Carton Caterpillar
9. Apple Stamp Art – create a picture using cut out apples as stamps. Must be mounted on 8.5/11” cardstock
or bristol board.
10. Make your Favourite Animal out of a Hand or Footprint – Display on any medium

11. Decorate a Cupcake – using edible decorations – can be any flavour
12. Make a healthy Snack shaped like a Creature/Monster

15. Bookmark – Create a standard 2.5” wide / 8.5” long bookmark. Decorate however you would like
16. A Craft you made through the year. Must not be from a kit
17. Salt Dough Fair Animal – make salt dough, create an animal out of it that you would see at the fair. Bake
the creation (parents should help with this part!) Decorate as you wish
18. Make a Picture Frame from Popsicle Sticks – Must be able to stand on its own. Include your favourite
photo inside and decorate as you wish
19. Make a Frog out of a Toilet Paper Roll – get creative and decorate as you see fit
BAKING
20. Oatmeal Raisin Cookies. Must display (3)
21. Themed Popcorn – fill a Ziplock bag (any size) with “themed” popcorn. Popcorn decorations must be
edible.
FLOWERS
22. Fresh Flower Arrangement – pick 5-10 of your favourite flowers in full bloom with a stem. Display in a
vase or jar. Must be real flowers, not artificial
23. Make an Egg Carton Bouquet – flowers should be constructed from egg cartons, but stem is artists choice
– Decorate as you wish
RECYCLING
24. Make a Cereal Box Aquarium – cut the side out of a cereal box leaving about an inch from the edge. This is
the front of your aquarium. Decorate the inside of the box like the inside of an aquarium. Hang some fish
on pipe cleaners, string, etc. Don’t forget to paint the outside of the cereal box too.

25. Design a new Book Cover for your favourite book. – Make sure the title and author are clearly marked

28. Fall Fabric Pumpkin – Paint a real or fake pumpkin (fake will last longer), allow to dry completely and
decorate with Modge Podge and strips of fabric. To be used as a centrepiece for Fall.
29. Spider Web Wreath – Make a spider web wreath that would be displayed at Halloween
30. Any Craft That was Made Through the Year – must not be from a kit

FLOWERS
44. Make a Christmas Centrepiece – using flowers and greenery. Real and or artificial are acceptable
45. Pressed Flower Lantern –*Must be started 3-4 Weeks ahead of fair for best results*Gather some flowers (thin stemmed flowers work best). Place flowers inside a newspaper, ensure none areoverlapping. Carefully place the folded newspaper in a large, heavy book. Stack some more books on top to addweight. Wait 3-4 weeks and then remove the flowers from the book. Using Modge Podge, glue flowers to theoutside of a mason jar (any size). Once all flowers are applied, let dry, and then cover the entire jar with Modge Podge. Decorate the mouth of the jar with ribbon or twine. If desired, put a battery tealight inside. Tealight isn’t required for the fair.

67. Junior Fair Line Drawing for Colouring Contest. Design the Junior Fair Colouring Page for next years fair
book. Must be a line drawing on white 8.5/11” paper. Must be designed so it can be coloured in (like it
would appear in a child’s colouring book). Must be done with black ink or black marker.

Entry to be the work of the exhibitor and taken within the last two years. Entries to be mounted on a piece of
white bristol board/cardstock approximately 15cm / 23cm in size. One entry per class. Prints may be titled or
untitled. Name, age, and entry number must be on entry tag and attached to entry. Directors will disqualify
pictures if not suitable for family viewing.

Plain Chocolate Chip Cookie Competition
Open to all youth up to 15 years of age (as of December 31st of the current year). Entry must consist of (6) cookies
on a clean, sturdy plate (no paper plates) sealed inside a clear plastic bag. Please attach tag with exhibitor’s name
and address. Cookies to be no larger than 2.5” (6cm), and no smaller than 2” (5cm)
* Winner will receive a Gift Certificate to Jimmy’s Restaurant – Ingleside.
District Competition – The winner from each fair will be eligible to enter at the district competition.
Provincial Competition – Same Rules as above but the winners will receive –1st Prize – $20.00, 2nd Prize – $15.00, 3rd Prize – $10.00
